Energy Efficiency
Energy Star
Accent Windows is proud to announce that we are partners with the DOE and EPA in a program designed to bring energy savings to homeowners. The Energy Star program was developed in 1992 by the EPA to identify and promote energy-efficient products that help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. In 1996, the program was expanded to include the Department of Energy so that other energy efficient product categories could be recognized. The Energy Star program is now designed to bring energy savings to homeowners and covers windows, doors, siding, new homes, most of the building sector, residential heating and cooling equipment, major appliances, office equipment, lighting, consumer electronics and more.
Windows must meet specific criteria for U-Value and Solar Heat Gain in order to qualify as an Energy Star product. Because window performance varies by climate, the requirements are area-specific to provide the consumer with the most accurate rating available. All products sold by Accent Windows meet or exceed the Energy Star requirements in all 50 states.
Energy Star windows will cut your energy costs significantly. Experts agree that your investment could be paid back in as little as three years. Having energy efficient windows means that your heating and cooling systems run less frequently, decreasing the amount of pollution generated by those systems. Energy Star products provide you with an opportunity to save money and help the environment at the same time.
Look for the Energy Star Label
The Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency have developed an Energy Star designation for products meeting certain energy performance criteria. See www.energystar.gov.
